The Mission of TSM is to reach all persons regardless of physical limitations and assist them in developing their full spiritual, educational, physical and general well-being.

Our Focus:

The Adaptive Sports Events coordinated by TSM emphasizes and heighten the awareness of sports to children and youth in St. Petersburg/Pinellas County and Gulf Coast Communities at-large. Mt. Zion Human Services, Inc. Therapeutic Sports Ministry is not attempting to create a “New Wheel”, but to bring the “Wheels” that have been promoted in St. Petersburg/Pinellas County and Gulf Coast Communities. TSM believes there are “No Borders—No Boundaries”. The value of Adaptive sports and its therapeutic impact has transformed and empowered individuals to become higher achievers in academia, corporate America and medical professions.

Since 1985, Paralyzed Veterans of America and the Department of Veterans Affairs have joined forces to work collaboratively to organize and execute the National Veterans Wheelchair Games (NVWG). VA Rehabilitation Programs and Paralyzed Veterans of America chapters across the country work to empower Veterans to be more active and healthy in their daily lives by getting them involved in sports and recreation programs highlighting fitness, social networking, and community involvement. Sports and recreation reinforce critical values necessary for health while combating the risk of isolation, depression, and other factors associated with health. Wheelchair sports provide encouragement and mentoring for newly impacted Veterans including the general population of adults, youth and children of all ages. Veterans at the Games truly educate newly disabled Veterans on what is possible and those witnessing the events realize that limitations are only state of mind.
